Description

We’re looking for a driven Cyber Security Specialist passionate about building innovative solutions to prevent an ever-expanding battery of cyberattacks. You’ll get the opportunity to develop, implement, communicate, monitor, and maintain our cybersecurity program, including identifying critical systems and critical digital assets, addressing cybersecurity controls for each critical digital asset, and maintaining cybersecurity attack mitigation and incident response capability. You’ll need to be up to date on the latest methodologies, be meticulous in your problem solving, and develop new systems and methodologies to address vulnerabilities, have exceptional IT capabilities, and be able to guide our students in thinking and implementing cybersecurity-related projects.

Responsibilities

• Design and build projects around security strategies, firewalls, and systems, encompassing data, systems, hardware, components and networks.

• Come up with unique ideas associated with security and network, including handling any system breaches.

• Projects that test for vulnerabilities in systems and networks and addressing any issues accordingly.

• Projects that include security measures across IT infrastructure, and ensuring data and network is effectively protected.

• Projects that identify and report any cyber-attacks and participate in any resulting investigation as needed.

• Knowledge of VPNs, Data Loss Prevention, IDS/IPS, Web-Proxy, Security Audits would be added advantages.

• The ability to work autonomously, or with minimal guidance is necessary.

• Design course material and presentations to students.

• Lead a team of engineers and interns who will build the project ideas is necessary.

• End-to-end project planning of various projects related to the cloud.

• Strong understanding of how to design and optimize an organization’s cloud-computing blueprint. Come up with ideas and design project ideas in an end-to-end cloud deployment.

• Perform the coding and software engineering for cloud platforms' development environments to build, deploy and optimize cloud-based applications in the form of projects.

• Understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, and Google with respect to onboarding, troubleshooting, and maintaining cloud computing solutions.

Preferred Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, IT, or related STEM subject.

• Experience and understanding with and knowledge of hardware and software, networks, data centers, systems, and other related areas related to cybersecurity.

• Experience with Java, C++, Ruby, Python, Node, Go, and/or Powershell.

• Understanding of managing firewalls and security software.

• Certification as an AWS Solutions Architect, Cloud Security Certification, and/or OpenStack Administrator Certification a plus. (Other cloud-related certification also a plus.)

• Experience with SOA applications and cloud-based services, preferably AWS.

• Experience working with OpenStack, Linux/UNIX, Rackspace, Docker, and Microsoft Azure.

• Design course material and presentations to students.

• Knowledge of web services, API, REST and RPC will be an added advantage.

• Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks is an added advantage.

• Database experience, including knowledge of SQL and NoSQL, and related data stores such as Postgres.

• Most importantly, the candidate must be having excellent communication and coordination skills. The job involves explaining the concepts to a number of interns and students.
